Perfumer’s Note

I have a friend — Susie is her name — who’s a fabulous storyteller. Incredibly imaginative and perceptive, she has a way of painting pictures with her words that I find very inspiring. And she herself is an inspiration — always kind and gracious, full of warmth and good humor.

I tell stories too, through the medium of scent. And so it is that Tonka Chic is one of Susie’s stories, translated to a perfume. It’s based on a story she told me about some of her favorite things — posh French pâtisseries, roses and jasmine in bloom, almonds and apricots and the best vanilla, cooking a feast for friends, reading on the veranda while the sun goes down.

To me, these things speak of luxury, refinement and a love for the good things in life. In creating Tonka Chic, I aimed to present Susie’s story as a sophisticated olfactive impression of pleasure and ease. — Claudia
